I have over 30 years experience training dogs. I learned how to train dogs through practice. I just simply see a problem and rectify the situation. Then I teach you (the dog owner) how to apply techniques.
You may be wondering, 'Why should we ask her to train our dog(s)?'. Because, I am passionate about creating well behaved dogs that are mentally healthy and are a joy to have in your home. I love working with dogs and I love to see people feel good about themselves and their dogs. Not to mention, I am the best.
I believe in constantly learning. I can not watch enough training shows, read enough books, train enough dogs or listen to enough other trainers. There is always a new technique that is more efficient and dog friendly.
Because I am capable of always learning, I believe other people are, too. Dogs are not usually the problem, they are simply reacting to the problem. I have found that dog owners just need a little adjustment in their training methods.
My training method consists of teaching the owner and rewarding the dog. I do not discipline a dog harshly or in a negative manner. Life and dogs have taught me that you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar. Positive reinforcement and controlled excitement when a dog has done something you want works best.
I do always pay attention to your dog. The dog breed that you have is as important as the unwanted behavior. I have found from time to time people choose a dog because it is 'cute' and do not educate themselves on the behavior of that breed. For example, I have come across people who love Beagles because they are cute. Barking, however, becomes an issue. What a lot of people do not understand is that the 'Unwanted Bark' is in that breed. They have several barks when they are hunting a squirrel, rabbit or what have you. Barking is what a Beagle is suppose to do, so to limit that takes time and creativity.
So, in conclusion, my training methods cater to you and your dog(s).
Please feel free to contact us with any questions and to set up an appointment - we look forward to hearing from you.

If nuisance barking is a problem, consider these issues to find a solution.
Some clients tell me that they love coming home because their dog greets them excitedly by jumping and barking. They feel this proves their dogs love for and bond with the family.
But look at a dog in a natural setting; she doesn’t bark and yelp and jump on her pack mates in a burst of affection.
So what are my clients’ dogs trying to say?

Dogs that greet their owners in this way are trying to communicate. But rather than professing undying love, they are actually trying to reinforce their dominance over you - they are the boss. Unfortunately, their basic needs are not being met - this is easy to rectify. The excitement that you see is your dog’s way of burning off the excess energy that has been building throughout the day.
People shouldn’t be disappointed by this revelation. This just means that dogs don’t use emotions like people do. Remember, they’re dogs. To love a dog means you must treat him like an animal, which means fulfilling him as Nature intended him to be fulfilled.
Now, let’s get back to our barking dog. So-called nuisance barking, which is often ongoing and not in response to a particular stimulus like a jogger running by the house, is your dog’s way of sending you a distress signal.
Somewhere his needs as an animal are not being met. Is his world anchored by a pack leader who projects calm-assertive energy? Are you walking with him every day, which exercises his body and his mind? Is he living a balanced life?
If nuisance barking is a problem, consider these issues to find a solution. It’s the best way to show real love for your dog.
